Woolsington Hall is seeking planning permission from Newcastle City Council for the renovation, refurbishment and redevelopment of the site into a 34 bedroom, five star hotel and leisure complex with restaurant, spa, lodges, cookery school and golf course. Through graceful restorative development, the listed Woolsington Hall will be rejuvenated as a premier luxury destination hotel that will generate significant economic impact, jobs and visitors for the Newcastle region.
To enable and finance the hotel, the application is also for the construction of 70 new detached executive homes on land to the south of the proposed golf course.
It is important to differentiate this enabling development from other larger housing plans proposed around nearby Ponteland. The housing development at Woolsington will play an integral role in the sustainability of the overall refurbishment project, sponsoring the hall's overall renovation and ongoing expansion of the site as a luxury leisure complex.
